We are excited to welcome a Journey Electrician to our Apparatus Shop! As an Apparatus Electrician you will be part of the team responsible for maintaining, testing, and repairing our utilities’ electric distribution equipment. In this job, you will be an essential part of keeping our electric system running smoothly and keeping our employees and citizens safe. This is an incredible opportunity for a motivated electrician to flex their electrical theory and troubleshooting skills in a new and challenging environment.
In this position, your pay rate will start at $43.24 (entry rate) and move to $45.40 (single pay rate) upon successfully completing probation (typically six months).
What you’ll be doing…
Testing new and in-service apparatus, rubber protective equipment, and high voltage hot line tools for equipment failure
Assessing the condition of used apparatus and determine cost-effectiveness of needed repairs
Perform infrared and partial discharge testing on apparatus in the field
Performing preventative maintenance on MOD switches
Testing and building battery packs for different apparatus
Programing several different types of controllers
Documenting work orders, work plans, and technical advances
Accurate record keeping for all repairs, tests, and oil management
Complying with safety program for an incident and injury-free workplace
Who you are…
Qualified applicants must be either a journey electrician or journey lineman and offer a minimum of five years of experience working in the electric field. We are looking for skilled troubleshooters who are self-directed, motivated, and ready to learn something new. This position requires driving a Colorado Springs Utilities vehicle, so a valid driver’s license is required.
