Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to hire an Intermediate level Application Administrator to join our team. In this job, you will support our technology solutions through implementation, maintenance and troubleshooting of both in-house developed and Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) applications deployed on site and in public and private clouds. Key application systems supported by this position include the Human Resources and Financial system, Asset and Work Management System, and a variety of applications supporting utility operations and engineering.
Typically, this mid-level administrator will be expected to work semi-autonomously on moderate to complex incidents, problems, and projects. Possess knowledge and breadth of experience in supporting multiple applications of varying technologies and will be expected to run minor software upgrades with minimal direction leveraging internal and external resources.
Key Areas of Focus:
Manage and administer software applications/systems to ensure high availability, reliability, interconnectivity, and security of the supported business applications in the portfolio
Manage and administer application servers, software, and middleware above the OS layer (includes startup/shutdown of Development, QA and Production systems)
Install/Configure/Decommission/Deploy/Tune Software Applications.
System password changes; Certificate maintenance
Rotational On-Call support of mission-critical applications 7x24
Troubleshoot and resolve production application/system issues
Identify, evaluate, coordinate, schedule and install application related patches and upgrades
Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing, including producing/maintaining disaster recovery plan
Configure and refine system monitoring and alerts
Plan, create, improve, and maintain procedures and documentation related to administration of software applications, system and architecture design, implementation and back-out plans, user management, and system release management
Automate System Administration functions, such as environment refreshes and password changes
Accountable for promoting changes to QA and Production
Clone / refresh environments.
Coordinates with vendor support for issue resolutions, patching, system upgrades, and release management
Managing small application related projects to include requirements gathering and assessment, high level design, effort estimations and ROI analysis

Also, possess a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field.
In addition, will bring three or more years of demonstrated experience in these areas:
Application support experience as an Application/System administrator in a live production environment
Administration or troubleshooting experience with one or more; Web services such as WebLogic, WebSphere, IIS
Scripting experience with one or more; PowerShell, Java, XML
Windows Application Administration
Technical process definition and optimization
Highly Desirable Experience
System monitoring tools and techniques
Experience administering and supporting HR, Asset/Work Management, and Energy Trading information systems; Laboratory information, Energy and Water management systems is highly beneficial.
