This is an at-will, supplemental full-time position hired to staff a project for a limited or defined period typically not to exceed twenty-four (24) months.

We are looking for an outstanding Applications System / Domain Architect to help tackle the exciting & challenging technical opportunities ahead. Be a part of a multi-year, transformational strategic program to optimize our significant IT portfolio. In this position, he/she will work in a collaborative environment to achieve standardization, through review and documentation of component standards, and compliance across the technology stack and consistency of information assets across the enterprise application portfolio.

The Applications System / Domain Architect has deep expertise on the structure and behavior of application and integration technologies, the data that supports these technologies and the business functions that are supported by these technologies. The person filling this role will be a top level technical expert and visionary responsible for development of strategy, design and implementation of technology to support business strategy.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Define, document and maintain the enterprise architectural component standards for technical system(s) and solution development to ensure best functionality, possibly including but not limited to: security, performance, scalability, extensibility, interoperability, usability, maintenance and supportability

  • Facilitate architectural guidance and strategy advice to ensure all component standards meet architectural guidelines, minimize costs, align with the future technology strategy, and are adaptable to future technology solutions and changes.

  • Recommends alternatives for application portfolio migration that best align with business needs plus optimize maintainability and performance

  • Acts as a trusted advisor for designing application architecture and interfaces without preconceived solutions in mind

  • Ensures subsequent technical designs are compliant with the architecture

  • Produces documented frameworks, architectures and plans that describe how to manage the implementation and integration of technical environments that support business strategies

  • Provides SME guidance, influence, direction and support to application development, administration and solution leads

  • Possesses a strong understanding of the relationships and dependencies between architecture domains supporting an enterprise business strategy

  • Possesses a strong understanding of continuity and availability architecture in support of business continuity and disaster recovery

  • Ensures solutions can be integrated, deployed, operated and maintained in a cost effective and timely manner

  • Performs critical assessment of existing architecture to identify performance and security issues and consolidation and lifecycle replacement opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated expertise as an Application Systems / Domain role or similar

  • Expertise in reviewing and documenting component standards

  • Deep knowledge and experience implementing and supporting COTS enterprise applications, Oracle Applications experience a plus

  • Intrinsic ability to influence strategy to support business needs and go-forward plans

  • Broad knowledge and experience with multiple technologies such as Java, Microsoft .NET, application servers, integration hubs, n-tier applications, database management systems and open source trends

  • Clear understanding of object-oriented design principles

  • Experience with high-volume transactional systems

  • Strong understanding of database design and implementation

  • Adept at producing architectural diagrams and presentations for use in communications with various levels of management and staff

  • Demonstrated ability to solve problems, determine appropriate actions and complete projects with little direction

  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and thrive in a multi-project environment
