*This is classified as an "Hourly” position. As such, if hired, you will be considered an at-will, supplemental, full-time non-exempt employee hired for seasonal or short-term work.

We are hiring a Barricades Support Technician who will be responsible for barricade support for our utilities' crews, city departments, fire, and police to include designing traffic control device installations and modifications, anticipating, and developing countermeasures to reduce crashes, and preparing construction traffic control plans including detour plans for pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

Key Focus Areas:

  • Manage/Operate barricade equipment while utilizing accompanying barricade principals

  • Read and Interpret maps and traffic control plans

  • Use various hand and power tools

  • Complete all associated safety and training courses and follow all safety procedures

  • Drive vehicles and trucks to transport materials and equipment to and from a job site

  • Lift, carry, load, and unload traffic control items, including barrels, signs, barricades, pavement marking materials, etc.

  • Communicate effectively with co-workers, supervisors, and the public

Who you are… Ideally, you will have acquired at least 6 months of traffic control experience, and you should be able to work without direct supervision, and have strong verbal communications skills and the ability to respond appropriately to unexpected events. Additionally, possess one or more of the preferred certifications; ATTSA Traffic Control Technician or Supervisor, CCA Traffic Control Technician or Traffic Control Supervisor. Previous experience working in traffic control/barricading is preferred.
