Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring a Business Systems Analyst to play a critical role in the operations of our IT Department. In this job, you will solve problems collaboratively with internal stakeholders as you gather/analyze business requirements, understand functional needs, provide consultative guidance, and help identify appropriate technical solutions. Your expertise in premise-based and externally hosted cloud technologies paired with your ability to bridge functional and technical teams will ensure our stakeholders have the tools needed to support their critical business and operational processes.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Review, analyze, and match capabilities of information systems to business requirements

  • Understand and communicate the impact of requests and initiatives on IT

  • Serve as the liaison between functional and technical teams

  • Rationalize requests by evaluating existing technical solutions to contain CSU’s technology footprint

  • Leverage/collaborate with other BSAs on best practices and consistent processes

  • Determine product and service operational objectives by understanding business functions; gathering critical information; evaluating output requirements and formats

  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with key IT and Business stakeholders

  • Work with stakeholders to develop and maintain a catalog of technology services supporting key business processes

  • Effectively communicate to ensure stakeholders and IT teams have a shared understanding of business requirements, and key processes and understand the current status of requests/initiatives and production support items. Drive innovation for the Organization by identifying deficiencies/inefficiencies caused by aging technologies and/or technical misalignment with business requirements

Who you are…

The ideal candidate will offer 4 or more years of progressive experience working as an analyst in cloud-based and premise technology-oriented environments. A bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience), IIBA or PMI BSA certification, and ITIL certification is preferred. Technology domains and skills desired:

  • Systems analysis and requirements gathering

  • Direct experience in ITIL and change management and release management processes

  • Skilled in project management

  • Working knowledge of the structure and behavior of standard programming languages, cloud-based software concepts, and the systems development life cycle

***This position will be filled at the Analyst Intermediate or Senior level. The level of the selected candidate will be dependent on the qualifications, experience, education, and certification level of the successful candidate.
