Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Business Systems Analyst to play a fundamental role in the operations of our IT Intake Team. In this position, you will solve problems collaboratively with internal stakeholders as you gather/analyze business requirements, understand functional needs, provide consultative guidance, and help identify appropriate technical solutions. Your expertise in premise-based and externally hosted cloud technologies and your ability to bridge functional and technical teams will ensure our stakeholders have the tools needed to support ERP systems and a wide variety of applications.

Key Areas of Focus:

  • Review, analyze, and match business requirements to information systems’ capabilities

  • Work collaboratively with partners in IT, business areas, and vendors to understand, document, and enhance business requirements to create technical and functional specifications

  • Understand and communicate the impact of requests and initiatives of the Portfolio

  • Serve as the liaison between functional, technical, and project teams

  • Ensure service delivery and provide life cycle support by driving requests and deliverables for major initiatives through required processes

  • Apply technology rationalization to requests for new functionality or improvements by evaluating existing solutions to best scale Colorado Springs Utilities technology footprint

  • Leverage/collaborate with other BSAs on best practices and consistent processes

  • Determine product and service operational objectives by understanding business functions and processes; gathering critical information; evaluating output requirements and formats

  • Establish and maintain productive working relationships with the portfolios’ key stakeholders

  • Work with stakeholders to develop and maintain a catalog of technology services supporting key business processes

  • Effectively communicate to ensure stakeholders and portfolio teams have a shared understanding of business requirements, and key processes and understand the status of requests/initiatives and production support items

  • Drive innovation for the Portfolio by identifying deficiencies/inefficiencies caused by aging technologies and/or technical misalignment with business requirements

Who you are… You will bring your experience working as a business systems analyst, supporting multiple applications in technology-oriented environments. An associate degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a closely related field of study (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) is preferred along with IIBA or PMI BSA certification, and ITIL certification. We are also interested in the following so please make sure to highlight the skills on your resume:

  • Systems analysis, requirements gathering, and application testing

  • Develop solutions, and create technical designs and documents through visualization tools

  • Direct experience in ITIL and change management and release management processes

  • Manage small to medium size projects using standard Project Management methodologies

  • Working knowledge of the structure and behavior of standard programming languages, cloud-based software concepts, and the systems development life cycle

  • Problem-solving to identify challenges and implementing procedures and processes to overcome them

  • Experience with change and release management process and software development life cycle
