Pay Range $85,571 to $106,953

Cyber Security Threat Hunter

In this job, you will be responsible for working as part of the Cyber Security Operations team to detect and investigate potential cyber threats that evade other defensive countermeasures. The Threat Hunter will work closely with other members of the cybersecurity team to identify artifacts of past / current cyber-attacks with the goal of eradicating threats and generating recommendations to prevent future incursions. Additionally, this position will be required to interface with and report to various levels of management to accurately communicate risk and remediation plans.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform threat hunting based on information from various collection platforms, binary / text-based logs, SIEMs, net flow systems, and malware information

  • Recognize potential, successful, and unsuccessful intrusion attempts and compromises through review and analysis of relevant event details and summary information

  • Develop techniques to automate the detection of suspicious and malicious activities

  • Work closely with other security analysts, cyber hunters and security engineers to identify anomalous and long-term patterns and trends which help to support the identification of advanced, or targeted threats

  • Develop and executes strategy and projects to build and mature the threat hunting program from an ad-hoc level of response to a top-down, proactive operations team

  • Develop and improves the process, procedure, and metrics framework for the team to execute threat hunting functions in a consistent and repeatable fashion

  • Create executive and detailed reporting to provide an assessment with recommendations on how to improve security capabilities and posture

  • Perform Incident Response activities and assists with incident reports

  • Ensure the integrity and protection of networks, systems, and applications through active threat discovery and remediation activities

  • Provide guidance and work leadership to other cybersecurity (and other technical) personnel throughout the organization

What will it take to be successful? The ideal candidate will have strong IT experience, be self-motivated, and be able to operate autonomously. A solid candidate will have a robust understanding of foundational IT technologies (networking, Windows/Linux servers, Active Directory, DNS, etc.) through a cybersecurity lens.
