Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Directional Drilling Operations Supervisor to join the Energy Construction Operations and Maintenance Support Services team. In this position you will be responsible for the oversight of the Directional Drilling crews and also responsible for direct report Crew Supervisors. This position will supervise all Directional Drilling activities performed by Utilities crews and will provide subject matter expertise for contractors performing directional drilling services for Utilities infrastructure. This leadership role will have sustained partnerships across the enterprise and with local contracting partners that benefit our organization business model. This position will provide in-depth knowledge of system requirements/needs, responsibilities of service levels, and all regulatory/compliance expectations.
Key area of Focus
Supervise all internal Directional Drilling Operations including multiple internal crews and their work assignments
Coordinate available Directional Drilling resources to meet scheduling requirements of construction needs with multiple stakeholders including construction and engineering
Preparation of bore projects to support the assigned work of Directional Drilling crews including site visits, utilities research and permits
Building and demonstrating the importance of Safety for direct reports and all crew members
Manage equipment needs for drilling operations
Development of crew supervisors through training and mentoring
Developing and maintaining industry best practices for productivity and efficiency
Oversight of contractors performing drilling operations for Colorado Springs Utilities to ensure performance and safety requirements
Set a positive workplace and environment that represents inclusion and diversity for employees, with a strong involvement in the safety culture of the group
Develop and implements short- and long-range strategic / operational goals, plans, programs and initiatives
Establish policies, procedures and work methods to monitor and enhance technical performance
proactively attain, attract, and develop your direct reports, and indirect reports who are working professionals within the operational group, while strategically planning for succession in the future
Who you are… The successful candidate will possess the in-depth ability and knowledge to provide leadership and supervision to the crews and crew supervisors, proactively attain, attract, and develop your direct reports, and come with 5 or more years of relevant demonstrated horizontal drilling industry experience. Previous leadership experience is required for this role; i.e. lead, supervisor, foreman, manager, etc.
*This role will require the successful candidate to possess a valid, unrestricted driver’s license AND a valid CDL
