Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to add a dedicated and driven Electric Meter Specialist like you to join our Advanced Metering Technologies team. This group provides expertise and guidance vital to our organization’s responsibility for timely and accurate metering. This role is hands-on, entailing day to day responsibility for all-electric metering duties.

What you’ll do:

  • Installing, exchanging and disconnecting both Self Contained and Transformer rated electric meters and related equipment

  • Performing inspections and ensuring proper operation of electric meters through

  • Testing

  • Programming

  • Repairs

  • Beta testing

  • Ensuring compliance with standards and specifications

  • Maintaining testing equipment to comply with industry standards

  • Using your expertise to troubleshoot problems

  • Maintain records and enter daily meter transactions into multiple applications

  • Provide technical assistance

  • Perform work in a safe manner and comply with the injury and incident free workplace

What you bring to the team:

  • Advanced knowledge of electric metering to include self-contained, transformer rated and primary metering

  • Experience and familiarity analyzing, testing and Programming electric meters to meet specifications

  • Strong computer skills to utilize various meter software programs

  • Action-oriented and a self-starter

  • A positive, can-do attitude

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, teamwork, and customer service skills

As a highly qualified applicant, you will have completed a DOL certified (registered) electric meter specialist apprenticeship or a non-registered apprenticeship program sponsored by an employer. You will also have at least an additional 2 years of hands-on experience as a journeyman. For applicants not completing any form of apprenticeship, you must have a minimum of 8-10 years of experience in advanced electric metering.
