Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an experienced electrical safety professional to provide occupational safety and health expertise, support, and program coordination to eliminate preventable incidents and injuries. This position will focus on electrical safe work practices for electrical transmission & distribution, electrical construction, and substation activities across the organization to ensure regulatory compliance and a practical and safe work environment for employees who work in and around electrical energy hazards. In this job, you will develop great relationships as you coordinate critical programs that help ensure a safe environment for our employees, contractors, and the public. You will have the opportunity to mature safety programs and collaborate with others to identify and abate safety hazards.
What will you be doing?
Performing field visits with craft employees to understand their duties and build good relationships
Performing “baseline” reviews of safety programs to determine employee awareness and program effectiveness
Collaborating with others to develop safety training programs
Responding to and investigating safety incidents during work hours and when on-call
Analyzing and reporting on safety data and offer recommendations
Serving as a subject matter expert on safety and assisting with ergonomics and industrial hygiene needs
Participating in safety plan reviews to ensure hazards are identified and controlled
Who you are...
Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Environmental & Occupational Health, or a related discipline, and/or at least three (3) years of progressively responsible and transferable field experience as a safety professional
Knowledge of regulatory compliance of OSHA 29 CFR1910.269 and other applicable industry standards
Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, Occupational Hygiene and Safety Technician, Construction Health and Safety Technician, and/or Certified Utility Safety Professional certifications are valued
