Would you like to build on your academic experience with real-world engineering experience? If yes, the Water System Operations Department is seeking two interns to support the development and maintenance of its arc flash compliance program.

In this Internship you will gain experience with the:

  • Review of record documentation one-line diagrams for accuracy compared to current installed operating conditions

  • Correction and revisions of electrical drawings and diagrams

  • Creation of new electrical drawings and diagrams as needed to represent current installed operating conditions

  • Performance of arc-flash calculations with Easy Power Software

  • Execution of daily activities focused upon safety, including following; safe work practices to ensure personal safety including appropriate use of personal protective equipment (PPE), participating in pre-job safety briefings, and consideration of safety during all phases of a project

Why you should apply? This experience will provide the opportunity to become familiar with portions of Utilities water service line electrical system infrastructure and associated operations related to: raw water pumping and transmission, water treatment, and finished water pumping, transmission, and distribution. Additionally, you will become an integral part of a collaborative team dedicated to continuous improvement to establish an important sustainable regulatory and safety compliance program for our Water System Operations Department.

What will it take to be successful? Prospective interns must be enrolled full or part time in an undergraduate or graduate degree program pursuing Electrical Engineering , or a related discipline. Preferred candidates will have completed at least one year of their undergraduate program and have prior experience in producing electrical drawings and diagrams and performing arc-flash calculations. This individual should be a critical thinker, who can extract information from data while maintaining strong attention to quality, detail, and accuracy. Candidates that demonstrate professional demeanor and educational curiosity will excel within our organization.
