Engineering Support - Utilities Development Services
The Engineering Support Series is part of a highly skilled professional team in Utilities Development Services. The team is comprised of utility professionals responsible for providing high-level customer service, issues resolution, coordination with the development community utility drawing reviews, and approvals related to commercial/residential land development process.
In the Engineering Support role, of Utilities Development Services, you will be utilizing your project coordination, customer service, interpersonal and problem-solving skills working with engineers, architects, developers, and other stakeholders resulting in a positive impact on the overall growth of our community. In doing so, you will have the opportunity to work with a very dedicated team of professionals who are passionate about their service to our community.
*This position will potentially be filled at one of three levels: an Engineer Support Coordinator, an Engineer Support Senior, or an Engineer Support Specialist. The level of the selected candidate will be dependent on the qualifications, experience, education, and certification level of the successful candidate.
How will you make an impact:
Performing technical reviews of drawings for land/subdivision development to ensure consistent and accurate application of policies and standards
Performing review of water and wastewater infrastructure on land use review applications
Performing reviews of Utility Service Plans
Resolving issues with engineers, architects, developers, and other stakeholders to obtain conformance with policies and standards
Conducting Pikes Peak Regional Building Department permit reviews and utility approvals
Providing technical assistance and expertise to internal and external customers
Reviewing, analyzing, and resolving customer inquiries
Assisting with various activities in order to provide an integrated process that results in a high level of customer service in resolving complex and technical issues
Resolving real estate and easement-related issues to ensure construction projects comply with Water and Wastewater Standards, tariffs, policies and City Code
Identifying, developing, and implementing process improvements
This position will potentially be filled at multiple levels; the differentiating requirements, education, and pay ranges are listed below:
Engineer Support Coordinator - $43.60 to $45.53 per hour
Associate’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical), CAD/Design, Project Management, Construction Management, Engineering Technology, or a closely related field from an accredited university is preferred; or completion of an approved apprenticeship program
At least 7 years of experience in a relevant engineering-orientated field
Engineer Support Senior-$37.67 to $39.35 per hour
Associate’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university is preferred; or completion of an approved apprenticeship program
At least 5 years of experience in a relevant engineering-orientated field
Engineer Support Specialist-$34.16 to $35.68 per hour
Associate’s Degree in Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited university is preferred; or completion of an approved apprenticeship program
At least 2 years of experience in a relevant engineering-orientated field
Additionally, we are most interested in your accomplishments in the following areas (be sure to highlight these in your application and/or resume):
Land development process fundamentals
Design and construction practices as they relate to utility distribution and collection systems Negotiating with customers (land developers, commercial or residential) to determine needs and analyzing cost/benefit options and making recommendations
Coordinating multiple projects throughout the various design and construction phases
Demonstrated excellence reviewing construction drawings, schematics, and contract documents using Blue Beam and other computer-based review and mark-up applications
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including SharePoint and Outlook*A valid non-restricted driver's license is required for this role.
