Enterprise System Application Administrator

Do you possess in-depth knowledge and breadth of experience in supporting multiple applications of varying technologies? Do you like to work autonomously on more complex incidents, problems and projects? If this is you, Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to hire a Senior level Enterprise System Application Administrator and we would love for you to join our ERP and Corporate Information Systems team!

In this job, your focus will be supporting applications on a Windows and Unix/Linux Platform while supporting our technology solutions through implementation, maintenance and complex troubleshooting of both in-house developed and Commercial off-the-shelf systems (COTS) deployed on site and in public and private clouds.

Key Areas of Focus & Responsibility:

  • Manage and administer software systems to ensure high availability, reliability, interconnectivity, and security of the supported business applications

  • Manage and administer application servers and software above the OS layer (includes startup/shutdown of Development, QA and Production systems)

  • Install/Configure/Decommission/Deploy/Tune Software Applications

  • Run simple software upgrades with minimal direction leveraging internal/external resources

  • Troubleshoot and resolve production application/system issues

  • Identify, evaluate, coordinate, schedule and install application related patches and upgrades

  • Participate in disaster recovery production, planning, testing, and maintenance

  • Configure and refine system monitoring and alerts

  • Plan, create, improve and maintain procedures and documentation related to administration of software applications, system and architecture design and maintenance, system and database backup policies, user management, and system release management

  • Automate System Administration functions, such as environment refreshes, password changes and certificate maintenance

  • Accountable for promoting changes to QA and Production

  • Coordinate with vendor support for issue resolutions, patching and release management

This position requires On-Call Rotational support of mission-critical applications 7x24**

What will it take to be successful? Highly qualified candidates will bring a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or closely related field. The ideal Senior candidates will bring five or more years of demonstrated experience in the key areas of focus and demonstrated Application support experience as an System/Application administrator. Additionally, experience with the below technical skills and knowledge are highly desirable:

  • One or more; Web servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, IIS, JBOSS

  • One or more; PowerShell, Java, Web Services, XML

  • Technical process definition and optimization

  • An ITIL certification and experience administering and supporting HR, Asset/Work Management, and Energy Trading information systems

  • Laboratory information, Energy and Water management systems
