You will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and timely delivery of our telecommunication services. You will be directly responsible for helping provide direction to a team that installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a variety of components of our fiber optic network.
What will you be doing?
Providing guidance for fiber optic installation/maintenance technicians on daily work and operations
Reading and interpreting fiber splicing diagrams, prints, specifications, work scopes, and fiber optic color code charts
Performing ring cuts, installing fiber closures, terminations, connectors, and patch panels
Locating and validating conduit for fiber path feasibility, mounting fiber termination panels and splicing cabinets, and bonding and grounding fiber cables according to specifications
Conducting pre-construction inspections of job sites to evaluate the readiness of site for fiber installation – and coordinating site readiness issues with project scheduling personnel
Inspecting field conditions and identifying problems, inaccuracies, and cost-saving measures
Inspecting, supervising, and reviewing installations of work sites for scheduled and unscheduled work
Reviewing survey staking, curb, gutter and street construction, residential and commercial construction conflicts, utility conflicts, and construction safety issues
Please note that working conditions and essential functions of performing this job include:
Heavy lifting and moving of materials and equipment which can exceed 80 pounds
Climbing and standing on extension ladders up to 28 feet for long periods of time
Performing work in confined spaces (e.g., bucket trucks)
Exposure to inclement weather conditions
Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation
Who you are...
Relevant and progressively responsible experience with installing and splicing fiber, and a working knowledge of fiber optic networks
Experience with repairing fiber enclosures, dressing and prepping cables into enclosures, fanning out and preparing bare fiber, terminating connectors, mechanical/fusion splicing, pre/post OTDR testing, and Light Source and Power Meter testing on Multimode and Single Mode fiber
Knowledge of approved practices, procedures, tools, codes, and materials used in fiber optic cable splicing
Outside plant fiber optic cable blowing/placement and operating electronic fusion splicing and testing equipment
A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is required at the time of hire, or the ability to obtain a CDL within six (6) months of hire
