Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring two (2) Gas Pipefitter Apprentices who will be responsible for assisting in the construction, repair, and maintenance of Utility piping, cable, and conduit systems. This position is part of a four (4) year certified Department of Labor (DOL) apprenticeship program. VA benefits are available to qualified applicants. The program consists of a combination of both classroom and on the job training. The successful candidate needs to be innovative, self-motivated, capable of handling multiple projects, prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure, meet deadlines and communicate with all levels of the organization.

This position is part of a formal apprenticeship program within the Gas Pipefitter trade. As such, pay for this position will begin at the entry-level unless previous apprenticeship documentation is provided. In addition, 3rd and 4th-year apprentices must reside in the Service Territory during on-call rotation schedules.

Working overtime, weekends, holidays, and 24-hour callout is required as business needs demand.

In this apprenticeship you will learn to:

  • Assist in the construction of installing Gas mains and service lines, repairs and maintenance, also installation of electric conduit and cable systems and appurtenances

  • Use hand operated and electric, pneumatic and hydraulic power tools to assist with the construction and maintenance projects

  • Gather equipment and parts to complete daily tasks

  • Comply with safety standards and standard operating procedures in support of an incident and injury free workplace

  • Respond to emergency situations and assists in repairs

Who you are...

Ideally, you have acquired six months to two years of related construction experience. This position requires the successful candidate to be able to obtain/maintain a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) within the first 6 months of hire. The ideal candidate will already have a Class A CDL.
