Key Account Manager / Customer Manager

Colorado Springs Utilities is looking for a Key Account Manager or Customer Manager who will be responsible for establishing, managing and enhancing relationships with our strategic business customers.

Level of hire will be dependent on relevant experience and education**

Key Account Manager, in addition to the Customer Manager responsibilities, key duties will include:

  • Planning, implementing and managing all activities on behalf of our largest strategic customers through politically sensitive issues

  • Communicating with high level executive decision makers

  • Managing large customer projects and programs

  • Utilizing financial and risk analysis, as well as technical utility knowledge to manage complex utility issues

  • Develop account plans, including milestones, resource requirements, and deliverables

  • Negotiating complex contracts associated with utility service

Customer Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Building and managing relationships with large business customers

  • Making quality decisions based on a mixture of analysis, experience and judgment

  • Communicating with decision makers

  • Interpreting and applying laws and regulations

  • Assuming leadership roles in associations

  • Serving as point of contact for understanding business customer needs and utility consumption patterns

  • Providing solutions to mid-market customer issues and coordinate programs to meet business customer needs

  • Working with internal partners across the organization to deliver solutions and services to customers

  • Advising customers on demand side management, water conservation and renewable opportunities

What is needed to be successful?

  • As a Key Account Manager, most people will have a Bachelor's Degree and at least five (5) years of account management experience in the utility industry working with large, complex customers and a proven track record of success in building relationships within these groups. Experience with all 4 services (electric, gas, water and wastewater) is highly preferred.

  • As a Customer Manager, most people will have a Bachelor's Degree and two (2) years of account management or marketing experience while the ideal candidate will have knowledge of the utility industry regulations and trends as well as technological concepts and processes as they relate to the utilities industry.

Pay range for the Key Account Manager is $85,571.20 to $106,953.60

Pay range for the Customer Manager is $70,678.40 to $88,337.60
