Colorado Springs Utilities is looking for a talented individual to join the newly created Land Resource Management team as a Land Resources Specialist . This opportunity will allow you to support the facilitation and coordination of the acquisition of real property, disposal of real property, and assist the team in the management and use of Utilities enterprise real property interests.

How you’ll make an impact every day:

You will be responsible for assisting the team with oversight of land management, acquisition, and disposition activities within Utilities for projects and programs through a variety of exciting opportunities such as:

  • Providing support for real property acquisition, disposition, and use for Utilities by meeting and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

  • Reviewing legal descriptions and depictions; reviewing ownership and encumbrance reports; reviewing titles, easements, grants of right-of-way, and related legal documents; preparing letters and real property-related documents

  • Recommending and developing a strategy for real property acquisition and disposition including timelines, negotiation tactics, action items, and budget development

  • Overseeing land acquisition milestones to maintain forward momentum in the purchase process for projects while updating project teams on status

  • Interfacing with stakeholders such as City of Colorado Springs Real Estate, Land Base Services, City Attorney’s Office, County Assessor’s Office, and others in support of project teams

  • Coordinating property access requests, action items with consultants, appraisal reviews, and with surveyors for legal descriptions

  • Confirming environmental clearances are complete and all other items have been taken care of for land transactions

  • Ensuring compliance with the “City of Colorado Springs Procedure Manual for the Acquisition and disposition of Real Property Interests" and all federal and state regulations
