Line Cable Specialist
Energy Operations has an opening for a qualified journey level Line Cable Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be a key contributor to maintaining our electric infrastructure which is approximately 80% underground. This position is responsible for the operational needs and minor maintenance of our distribution system. In this role, you will work with Planning and Engineering, Construction & Maintenance, and Distribution Control to keep our electric system up and running. You will perform a wide variety of technical duties, and will be responsible for ensuring safety compliance on job sites.
In this role, you will be subject to stand by duty.
As an Electric Line Cable Specialist, you will be:
Ensuring quality of work performed in compliance with standard operating policies
Performing clean up and safe handling of hazardous waste from system equipment
Performing Distribution and Transmission Switching to accommodate repairs and clearances
Setting up clearances and hotline holds for emergency power restoration
Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and work procedures
Reviewing technical documents and designs for accuracy
Assisting in the construction, maintenance and removal of underground and overhead power lines and equipment
Rotating to the Downtown Network Crew
What will it take to be successful? While most candidates will have successfully completed a certified Line Technician Apprenticeship program, the ideal candidate will possess a valid CDL Class A driver’s license, and have at least two to four years’ experience working as a journey level line technician, we are most interested in your demonstrated professional skills and accomplishments in the following areas:
Performing physical aspects of line construction and maintenance
Applying safety standards in completing work assignments
Electrical systems principles, voltage requirements, equipment, installation and maintenance
Interpreting specifications, schematics and written instructions
Metering principles and practices
Installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmissions systems
