As a Line Specialist Cable Technician, you will be responsible for the operational needs and minor maintenance on our distribution system. You will work with Planning and Engineering, Construction & Maintenance, and Distribution Control, performing a wide variety of technical duties while ensuring safety compliance on job sites.

Starting pay rate for a Line Specialist cable technician is $47.69/hr. Your pay rate will increase to $50.07/hr. upon successfully completing probation (typically 6 months).

As a Line Specialist Cable Technician, you will impact the following:

  • Respond to Underground outages to assist in service restoration

  • Setting up clearances and hotline holds for emergency power restoration.

  • Assisting in the construction, maintenance and removal of underground and overhead power lines and equipment

  • Ensuring quality of work performed in compliance with standard operating policies

  • Performing clean up and safe handling of hazardous waste from system equipment

  • Performing Distribution and Transmission Switching to accommodate repairs and clearances

  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and work procedures

  • Reviewing technical documents and designs for accuracy

  • The successful candidate will be subject to working in adverse work and weather conditions and is subject to overtime and stand-by hours.

Who you are…

To be considered, you must have completed a certified Line Technician Apprenticeship program. Highly qualified candidates will also bring two or more years of experience working as a journey-level line technician. A valid CDL Class A Driver’s License is required. Additionally, we seek are most interested in your demonstrated professional skills and accomplishments in the following areas:

  • Performing physical aspects of line construction and maintenance

  • Applying safety standards in completing work assignments

  • Electrical systems principles, voltage requirements, equipment, installation, and maintenance

  • Interpreting specifications, schematics, and written instructions

  • Metering principles and practices

  • Installing and maintaining electrical distribution and transmissions systems
