Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Manager of the Technology Project Management Office (PMO) to provide leadership in establishing, managing, and operating a portfolio of complex and strategic projects.

In this intellectually challenging role, your expert leadership will facilitate stakeholder engagement, alignment, and utilization of resources to ensure excellence in project delivery through:

  • Providing leadership and day to day management for the IT Technology Project Management Office to effectively run strategic Technology projects and programs to meet business goals and provide tangible operational benefits

  • Working with a wide variety of Stakeholders across organizational boundaries to define, prioritize, develop, and implement organizational project and program priorities

  • Developing and deploying project management standards, processes, and best practices to be used across technology projects and programs

  • Ensuring project portfolio milestones/goals are met while adhering to approved budgets

As the Manager of the Technology Project Management Office, you will have:

  • Prior experience leading and directing a robust and high performing Project Management Office

  • An ability to collaborate with project/program sponsors and stakeholders across divisions to identify technology project objectives, milestones, resource requirements, budget and deliverables for information technology projects and programs

  • Guiding and performing strategic analysis and requirements definition among project stakeholders with diverse and often conflicting business needs

  • Significant experience in project definition and scoping, formulation of feasibility studies and business cases

  • Knowledge of multiple project management methodologies, principles, practices (e.g. waterfall, agile, Kanban) and the ability to determine appropriate use depending on project and program requirements

  • Experience negotiating and managing vendor contracts, performance, and relationships to adhere to project and program requirements

  • Responsibility for tracking, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on resources, on quality, on risks, schedules, budget and scope for the technology project and program portfolio

  • Prior experience leading large, complex enterprise-level technology projects and programs

  • An ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally, to all levels in the organization, including executive teams

  • Self-motivated, strong results orientation, collaborative team player with functional thought leadership

  • A responsibility to make hiring and pay decisions, assign work, provide coaching and feedback, and evaluate performance

Additional qualifications we seek:

Highly qualified candidates will have completed a bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline with 10-12 years of experience in managing technical teams and project managers and 5-7 years of relevant experience in the Utility industry, consulting, or service provider organization. PMP (Program Management Professional) and ITIL certifications preferred.
