Colorado Springs Utilities' Demand Side Management & Distribution Energy Strategies department is responsible for administering a variety of rebate programs for our customers, including energy efficiency, demand response, and renewable energy. Our department is also responsible for developing and implementing our distribution energy strategy, which includes energy storage and renewables. We are seeking a Renewable Energy Analyst to support the Distribution Energy Strategies side of our group through data analytics, mining, and visualization. The work that you do with analyzing and presenting data will support and drive decision-making around energy storage and renewables projects, and the success, continuation, and strategic direction of those projects.

What will you be doing?

In this role, you will map out data points, overlaying them with our grid network, to help determine the penetration rate of circuits, substations, and predict the growth of electric vehicles and how that affects our energy system for the future across our service territory. Your key responsibilities include…

  • Leading advanced, custom research projects applying project management experience (e.g., moving to a full automation model for our energy rebate programs)

  • Determining scope, cost, schedule, and deliverables utilizing techniques for planning, performance tracking, change control, risk management, and support of the strategic direction of Colorado Springs Utilities

  • Conducting complex cost-benefit, labor, economic, financial and systems analyses, identifying trends, evaluating data, and preparing and delivering reports and presenting information to key stakeholders

  • Developing and executing strategies utilizing advanced, complex forecasting and modeling techniques

  • Researching and developing policies and programs, and ensuring strategies align with business and development plans

  • Preparing specialized financial, marketing, business information/system studies, analyses, and reports including graphical presentation of data

Who you are...

  • Bachelor's degree in a science, technology, or related discipline - or extensive experience with successfully performing in the areas of data analysis, mining, and visualization

  • Ability to manipulate, analyze, review, and present data to ensure understanding from others and inspire action and decision-making

  • Knowledge of energy conservation, renewables, and efficiency is valued

  • Experience with PowerBI is highly beneficial (e.g., building dashboards, presenting data)

  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships; analytically- and results-oriented; and think strategically to positively contribute to our energy storage and renewables efforts
