How Will You Make an Impact?
Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Senior Applications Developer to play a critical role in the operations of our Customer Applications Portfolio! Our Customer Applications team maintains software systems that impact the core of our customer experience, including Meter-to-Cash (M2C) and Customer Self-Service (CSS) platforms, Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI), Mobile Workforce Management (MWM), and develops custom applications in partnership with internal stakeholders to enhance the services we provide to our community. In this role, you will solve problems collaboratively with stakeholders by providing consistent, high-quality implementation, analysis, and development services. Some of the ways in which you will make an impact include:
Designing, developing, enhancing, debugging, and packaging for release software solutions designed to support new or existing business initiatives in accordance with technical development standards and best practices
Consulting with analysts, project teams, and end users to validate requirements and perform feasibility analyses on potential future projects
Translating functional designs and/or requirements into working code
Participating in design work sessions and conducting peer code reviews
Ensuring compliance with our enterprise ITIL framework including change and release management processes
Preparing technical documents including solution designs, test plans, processes, and standards
Who You Are
Please note that the following knowledge, skills, and expertise are valued and highly desired for this position:
Relevant and progressively responsible experience in an Information Technology capacity, preferably in an applications development capacity
Bachelor's degree in Computer Technology, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience managing and maintaining UNIX or Linux-based application infrastructure using command-line interfaces (CLI)
Experience using Eclipse and/or Visual Studio IDE tools
Ability to refactor code for reusability, readability, and maintainability in an object-oriented codebase
Experience in solution design, analysis, or software development lifecycle (SDLC)
Knowledge of software development processes and principles
Knowledge of and experience with industry best practices, including CI/CD principles, concepts, architecture, and operations
Experience with any of Unix/Linux shell scripting, Java, Groovy, Spring, Python, HQL, SQL/PLSQL, React.js, Microservices, SOAP, JSON/RESTful Web Services
Knowledge of relational database concepts, design, and data extraction using SQL
Knowledge of Git SCM and GitHub source control tools, including advanced version control concepts (e.g., branching and merging)
Experience with any of Oracle Utilities Customer Care and Billing (CC&B), Meter Data Management (MDM), Customer To Meter (C2M0, SOA Suite, Fusion Middleware, and/or BI Publisher
