Senior Human Resources Business Partner

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a talented and experienced Human Resources professional to join our team as a Senior Human Resources Business Partner. In this job, you will act as a trusted advisor and consultant, collaborating across the HR function to deliver value added service to management and employees that reflect the business objectives of the organization.

Here is what you can expect from this exciting and challenging role! You will serve as point of contact for senior leadership to implement HR solutions to business issues, strategies, and initiatives, utilizing various information sources to determine action and understand potential future implications. You will oversee and assist with the day-to-day delivery of HR services and the resolution of issues in partnership with organizational customers. This includes:

  • Monitoring and providing guidance with the interpretation and enforcement of HR policies and procedures

  • Recommending enhancements and improvements to established processes and workflows in areas of expertise

  • Addressing complicated and complex issues related to culture and employees, aiding in performance management, day-to-day coaching, providing guidance and resolving employee relations matters, and serving as a champion for action planning

  • Developing talent retention strategies, succession planning/management, workforce planning to meet current and future demands

  • Providing consulting on compensation & classification practices and procedures

  • Providing guidance and strategy on short/long term organizational structure and business planning

What will it take to be successful? To be considered for this position, you must offer experience (ideally at least 6 years) serving as a trusted Human Resources advisor and strategic consultant and a bachelor’s degree (or greater) in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration or a closely related field. The ideal candidate will offer an SPHR or SHRM-SCP certification, excellent influencing skills at all levels of the organization and competence in making timely, effective, principles-based decisions. This job will require a strong balance of analytical and problem-solving skills, business consulting and communication competencies as well as the ability to work in a dynamic team environment.
