Senior Software Engineer / Software Developer

As the Senior Software Engineer/ Software Developer, you will collaborate with Enterprise Integration, Application Administration, and Information technical staff to continuously improve existing and implement new solutions with an enterprise integrated mindset. This will also include integration of cloud, mobile, and on-premise integrations. The IT Application Lifecycle Management team at Colorado Springs Utilities performs standards-based development, and configuration of enterprise class Commercial Off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions and in-house developed applications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Configure and develop technical objects in accordance with the technical development standards and best practices

  • Collaborate with support teams to resolve system issues and outages

  • Participate in code design and code reviews

  • Ensure compliance with our enterprise ITIL framework including Change & Release processes

  • Clearly and concisely communicate information to both technical and non-technical audiences

  • Prepare technical documents including design, test plans, processes and standards


  • 8+ years of IT experience is preferred

  • 3-5 years of experience with at least one of the .NET languages (e.g. C#, Visual Basic .NET)

  • 3-5 years of experience with the .NET framework, .NET SDK, .NET Core, Java, and JavaScript

  • Experience in design, development and implementation of J2EE APPs, is desired

  • Experience programming in developing business applications with Java, Spring MVC/Spring Core/Web Services (SOAP/REST)

  • Experience in development of frameworks as JSP, HTML/HTML5, CSS/CSS3, JQuery, AngularJS, NodeJS

  • Experience performing work using SDLC and versioning tools (GitHub preferred)

Applicable Skills:

  • Hands-On experience with Oracle extension using OA framework: (e.g. Oracle ADF, Oracle JET, Oracle OUAF)

  • Strong knowledge of current industry standards and technologies (e.g. continuous delivery, DevOps, API management, rich web applications, HTML5, XML, etc.)

  • Security implementation (encryption, certificates, access controls)

  • Prior experience in AWS or any other cloud provider

  • Solid understanding of system architectures including, software and hardware components, databases, operating systems, software applications, network communications, firewalls, and cybersecurity
