Our Procurement Services team is responsible for managing and renewing contracts, Requests for Proposals (RFPs), Invitation for Bids (IFBs), Statements of Work (SOWs), and working with suppliers to negotiate contract terms on acquiring essential products and services to support the success of Colorado Springs Utilities. We are seeking Senior Strategic Sourcing Specialists to support our strategic sourcing efforts, timing, and impact of contracting and purchasing functions – for technology solutions and construction and engineering services. In this role, you will leverage your strategic sourcing, contracting, and negotiating skills while analyzing complex and unique contract requirements, special provisions, and legal terms and conditions to ensure compliance with Federal, State, and municipal laws and regulations.
Please note that this position offers flexible scheduling after the six-month probationary period (e.g., the option to work 9-hour days, with every other Friday off - or a hybrid work schedule of 2 days at home and 3 days at the office per week).
How Will You Make an Impact?
Negotiating contracts for technology solutions OR construction and engineering services in support of a wide range of projects with strategic impact
Managing complex, high-dollar, high risk, and high visibility solicitations (e.g., RFPs, RFIs, IFBs) and leading the sourcing process
Collaborating with stakeholders to ensure the selection of best-value suppliers through fair and ethical solicitation practices
Providing a high level of service by engaging with internal stakeholders through collaboration, training, and providing guidance regarding advanced sourcing, supplier management, and risk mitigation
Effectively collaborating with external stakeholders to ensure efficient delivery of a good or service through strong communication methods and coordination between all parties
Mitigating organizational risk through developing recommendations regarding appropriate procurement strategies, timing, and impact of contracting
Analyzing and interpreting complex contractual issues to develop and implement improvements in contracting, sourcing, cost-savings, and procurement policies, processes, and legal practices
Who You Are
Relevant and progressively responsible experience with strategic sourcing, contracting, and negotiations, preferably with technology solutions OR construction and engineering services
Familiarity with negotiation, contract management, analysis, and understanding of complex SOWs, Task Orders, Amendments, legal terms and conditions, and other contractual methods for managing projects
Ability to develop SOWs and contractual language addressing technology OR construction and engineering requirements is valued
Ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders throughout the organization
Knowledge of municipal (local or state) procurement policies and practices is valued
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Contract Management, Purchasing Management, or a related field is valued
