The Network Transport Services team is responsible for supporting the safety, reliability, and performance of all of Colorado Springs Utilities' fiber, microwave, and telecommunications infrastructure. What will you be doing?
Designing, deploying, and managing Ciena DWDM/ROADM infrastructure and networks; Core IT/OT MPLS and BGP networks; and managing networks utilizing network standards and technologies including IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, BGP, VRFs, and VLANs
Developing automation tools for testing, configuration, auditing, and monitoring of fault and performance of network elements
Researching, evaluating, designing, planning, implementing, and testing organization-wide network systems to support IT and organizational strategies and roadmaps
Developing and maintaining network design and mapping documentation
Performing project management for network extensions, upgrades, and lifecycle replacement efforts
Overseeing new and existing equipment, hardware, and software installations and upgrades
Implementing and managing network monitoring, logging, and alerting systems
Monitoring and testing network performance and providing performance statistics
Troubleshooting network issues, performing root cause analysis, documenting findings, and implementing appropriate corrective actions
Developing Methods of Procedure (MOPs) for implementation and maintenance activities
Participating in the Network Transport Services 24x7 on-call support rotation that covers a broad range of network standards and technologies including OTN, DWDM, IP v4, IP v6, MPLS, QOS, BGP, VRFs, VLANs, SONET, and microwave radio
Who you are...
Relevant and progressively responsible experience in designing, implementing, and supporting DWDM/ROADM networks and Network Systems Engineering
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
Certifications in Ciena, Blue Planet MCP, or other relevant network certifications are highly valued
Technical knowledge and skills in any of DWDM/ROADM technologies, TCP/IP networking and network devices, Ciena, Blue Planet MCP, MPLS, BGP, OSPF, VRF, VLAN, Spanning Tree, IPv4
