Street Light Electrician / Service Line Technician

Colorado Springs Utilities offers career opportunities in the fast-paced, dynamic electric utility industry. We are looking for an individual who has the desire and self-motivation to join our team as a Street Light Electrician / Service Line Technician. This challenging and rewarding career is responsible for installing underground and overhead secondary electric lines in addition to installing and maintaining street lights.

How you’ll enjoy spending your day:

  • Laying pipe, pulling wire and setting meters

  • Constructing, maintaining and testing secondary electrical systems and related equipment

  • Repairing, maintaining, removing and troubleshooting street light systems, poles, luminaries, circuits

  • Working with various voltages up to 480v in the residential, commercial, arterial and freeway street lighting systems

  • Switching or rerouting secondary electrical systems using proper sequencing and connections

  • Metering underground pedestal hook-up in an underground vault or pad-mounted transformers

  • Removal of and troubleshooting secondary electrical systems with testing equipment and aerial equipment

  • Operating line construction vehicles and equipment including wire-pullers, bucket and boom trucks, and various hand tools

  • Climbing poles and ladders, hooking up services and street light feeds

Additionally, you will be expected to work in inclement weather, subject to 24-hour call outs, and be available to travel to other utilities when requested through our alliance partners.

What you would bring to the team:

  • Journey or Master Electrician

  • Completed an approved electrical apprenticeship program

  • Ability and Focus to follow ALL safety rules and company standards

  • Strong knowledge of basic electrical theory

  • Experience in construction, maintenance, and troubleshooting in the commercial and/or residential electrician field

  • Have a valid driver's license. A Commercial Driver’s License is preferred, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of hire

  • The willingness and ability to climb poles
