Technical Solutions Engineer

In this role you will work with the Business and IT teams to understand their needs, issues, problems and challenges. You will adhere to, and comply with the methodologies, direction, standards and principles of CSU’s Application, Integration and Information Architects, to achieve an enterprise, integrated mindset. Identify potential solution options, prepare software recommendations and design technical solution specifications to help resolve them. Analyze work requests and requirements, research options and alternatives, and design technology solutions and recommendations. Leverage industry best practices, product knowledge, and business acumen. Exercise sound judgment in selecting methods and techniques to deliver functional and technical solutions on non-routine and very complex aspects of applications and technology installations.
Provide quality and timely work artifacts
Identify potential solution options, prepare software recommendations and design technical solution specifications to help resolve them
Evaluate the existing Application Portfolio for potential reuse option versus new solutions
Adhere to, and comply with the methodologies, direction, standards and principles of CSU’s Application, Integration and Information Architects
Translate functional requirements into solution design/blueprint and specifications and prepare all artifacts in accordance with approved standards, design principles and recommendations as established by IT architects
Identify, document and/or communicate to PM and/or Leadership assumptions, constraints, issues, risks and key decisions
Act as technical point of contact for coordination of technical components and workstream activities
Participate in vendor resource selection including creation of SOW, RFP, RFI in partnership with Procurement and IT
Assisting in establishing product and process improvement plans to reduce support effort and increase product availability and scalability
Provide input to the development of roadmaps for future product upgrades and new functionalities
Deep knowledge and experience implementing and deploying COTS enterprise applications, experience utilizing n-tier frameworks in private and public clouds
Experience in Application Design and Development Methodology
Proven track record of enterprise applications, design and rollout
Experience with Oracle middleware, Oracle Applications and Oracle Utility Applications is a plus
Competent in database and application server administration
Experience in enterprise version control solutions
Working knowledge of two or more major enterprise systems such as Supply Chain, Enterprise Asset Management, Enterprise Work Management, Financial Management & Planning, Human Capital Management, Customer Care, etc.
Working knowledge of Services Oriented Architecture
Experience with Object Oriented Programming (Java)
Solid understanding of SQL, relational database design and normalization
Experience working with web technologies such as XML
Utilities industry experience is a plus
BS Degree in Computer Science or related experience is preferred

A bachelor's degree in computer technology or a closely related field is desired, along with requisite experience.
