Technology Project Manager

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a Technology Project Manager to join the Customer Applications Management team, within the Customer Services Department. In this position, you will lead a variety of important technology projects or programs that directly impact CSU personnel and our customers every day.

Typical Responsibilities:

  • Leverage project and program management principles, concepts, practices, procedures, tools and techniques to manage technology based projects and programs, including: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing activities. Both waterfall and agile project management methodologies may be used.

  • Serves as the liaison with Information Technology, Customer Service Department, operational areas, auditors, and external vendors to implement projects or programs into production. Stakeholders need to be identified and have an opportunity to provide appropriate input to the project or program.

  • Use of interpersonal communication skills and the ability to identify all project stakeholders and collaborate with them to achieve project goals. You will need to clearly communicate assignments to team members and status to management.

  • Builds and facilitates team cohesion and leads project or program team by assembling appropriate personnel and assigns roles and responsibilities.

  • Directs project meetings and escalates issues and decision-making to management to proactively facilitate project or program progression to provide value.

  • Effectively manage risk and resolve issues.

  • Drives timely project activities, as well as efficient and cost-effective use of time, materials and resources.

  • Participate in the procurement and contracting process for the selection of cloud-based services and technology solutions and supports vendor management and service level adherence.

What will it take to be successful in this position? Most people typically offer a minumun of six years leading technology project teams and come with a Bachelor's degree in Project Management, Communication, Information Systems, Business or closely related field (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). The ideal candidate will offer the Project Management Professional (PMP) and ITIL certification, as well as experience in the Utilities industry.
