Colorado Springs Utilities is looking for a dedicated, self-motivated individual to join our Construction Maintenance Team as a Truck Driver . This challenging and rewarding career is responsible for supporting crews while working on our distribution system.

*The successful candidate must be flexible to work multiple rotating shifts which may include weekends, nights, and on-call hours. Additionally, overtime may be required as needed.

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Operating tandem dump trucks to and from job sites

  • Operating loaders and backhoes to load materials for job sites

  • Assisting work crews in the repair and installation of pipeline systems

  • Hauling supplies from vendors’ storage sites

  • Hauling equipment on trailers to job sites

  • Performing pre and post-trip inspections on equipment

  • Operating special purpose trucks (i.e., 2500-3000 gallon water tanker)

Who are you… While most people would have completed 2 years of experience in field construction/maintenance operating larger trucks, the ideal candidate will have experience with water construction. A valid Commercial Driver’s License Class B is required, but a Class A and tanker endorsement is preferred, or the ability to obtain within six months of hire. We are also interested in your experience with the following so be sure to highlight it on your application and/or resume:

  • Ability to read street and roadmaps

  • Ability to determine weight capacities of operated vehicles

  • Knowledge of transporting materials

  • Ability to identify hazardous materials

  • Knowledge of inspecting vehicles

  • Ability to perform preventative maintenance

  • Ability to communicate, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisors, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction

  • Ability to follow all applicable safety procedures
