This is classified as an "Hourly” position. As such, if hired, you will be considered an at-will, supplemental, full-time non-exempt employee hired for seasonal or short-term work. We anticipate this temporary assignment ending in October of 2023 (as dictated by work demands).

How Will You Make an Impact?
Colorado Springs Utilities is hiring a seasonal Utility Worker to support our Wastewater Structures group. In this role, you will support activities related to construction, repair, and maintenance through performing manual labor (heavy lifting, shoveling, and working in various types of weather), as well as general knowledge of basic construction operations. You will also work in high-traffic areas while adhering to appropriate safety practices.
Assisting in the construction, repair, and maintenance of water and wastewater systems
Maintaining and updating records on a daily basis
Using hand-operated and electric, pneumatic, and hydraulic power tools to assist with landscape construction and maintenance projects
Gathering equipment and parts to complete daily tasks
Attending safety and training courses
Rotating across water, wastewater, and support services workgroups
Who You Are
Relevant and progressively responsible construction experience
Possession of a valid, unrestricted driver's license; CDL is valued but not required
Knowledge of general construction principles, basic mathematics, blueprints, schematics, and mechanics is valued
Ability to perform work safely and bring safety hazards to the attention of others
Ability to operate equipment including tandem dump trucks, mowers, utility trailers, wastewater maintenance equipment, water maintenance equipment, asphalt roller, jackhammer, and various pneumatic hand tools
Please note that this position requires working overtime, weekends, holidays, and 24-hour callouts as business needs demand.
