We are seeking a creative and collaborative individual to fill a position as a Water Resources and Water Rights Program Administrator on the Water Resources Management team. In this role, you would provide high-quality technical support to the water resources management team in water rights administration, regulatory, and legal matters, and assist the engineers, water resource specialists, compliance personnel, and attorneys to meet departmental needs.
Key Areas of Focus:
Assisting water resources staff with managing a range of assignments, including compliance with legislative and governmental protocols related to Utilities Board, City Council and other Board actions, ensure timeliness on regulatory and legislative reviews, contracting renewals, as well as creating and editing related technical documentation
You will also administer the drafting of legal correspondence, including case-specific reports, appendices and exhibits, and records retention and database management
Research and investigate facts of water right decrees; identify relevant laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials; and report changes in regulations, guidelines, and laws to appropriate parties
Draft, revise, and finalize filings, and assist with submission to appropriate entities
Liaison on water rights cases between outside attorney’s, city attorney offices and water resources staff
Locate, evaluate, and compile relevant resources and data for current and future legal motions
Investigate public records, previous cases, and legal precedents to prepare materials for water rights matters
Organize and maintain accurate, up-to-date databases for current and past water rights filings
Who you Are…. a candidate may have a degree in engineering, law, paralegal or related field. The ideal candidate will come with an attention to detail and a working knowledge of water resource legislation, water law and regulatory guidelines, water court case management, and experience with corporate law as it relates to managing Boards and City Council processes. These skills and competencies will be applied to support water resource engineers, subject matter experts and management through court and local corporate activities and compliance with procedures. Additionally, Professional certifications, such as NALA, AACP, or ABA are preferred.
A valid, unrestricted driver's license is required for this role.
