Water Treatment Plant Control Systems Lead

Are you a highly motivated self-starter with the ability to work with minimum supervision on medium to large instrumentation and control systems for water and wastewater treatment facilities?

Are you someone who enjoys the technical component of a job, but also enjoys supervising, developing, and mentoring staff? If this is you, Colorado Springs Utilities is looking to hire a Water Treatment Plant Control Systems Lead and we would love for you to join our Water System Operations team!

In this job, in addition to supervising and training your team, your focus will be the ongoing evaluation of control system integrity along with forecasting preventative/corrective maintenance, coordination of water treatment plant (WTP) outages to upgrade software/ hardware, developing and implementing control system/SCADA architecture upgrades and programming initiatives, and evaluation of industry technology to provide recommendations and upgrades, to include cyber security resiliency, and to provide long term vision on lifecycle sustainability.

The successful candidate, in addition to the experience noted above, will have the following core experience:

  • Rockwell automation control systems

  • Solid understanding of SCADA/network architecture and programming for control systems

  • Good understanding of PLC’s, Servers, Ethernet switches and Ethernet IP protocols

  • Planning and budgeting for future control system upgrades

  • Skilled at developing and maintaining a software library

  • Familiar with designing, validating and implementing programming standards.

Additional Experience With:

  • Structured PAC coding (Studio 5000 Development Environment), HMI development (Factory Talk View SE/ME), Batch Control (FT Batch), Historian (FT Historian), and other control system technologies

  • Computer virtualization preferably utilizing VMWare

  • Factory talk Network Distributed applications and Computer virtualization preferably utilizing VMWare

  • Ladder logic, Function Block and structured text PAC programming

  • MS SQL Server or Oracle database systems

  • Design and development of industrial communication control networks to include Device Net, ControlNet, Profibus DP, Profibus PA, Ethernet I/P, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU, HART, Foundation Field Bus

  • Design and development of redundant PAC and HMI system architectures
