Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking a dedicated Workforce Development Senior / Specialist to join our Technical Craft Training team. This position will be one of the go-to professional training experts for training related to Safety, Environmental, and Industrial Equipment (Cranes, Rigging, Forklift, etc.) for skilled trade and craft professionals. This position requires a self-directed individual who works well as a member of a team and is energized by working in an environment requiring continuous change and improvement. Applicants must be comfortable working in a collaborative, consensus driven work environment. Primary duties involve training content delivery via instructor led training and content development as indicated below:
Typical Responsibilities of the Specialist:
Develop and maintains strategic training plans and programs to respond to organizational needs for both competencies and technical skills; develops standard methodology for design,development, and delivery of training content and programs
Develop, monitors, and evaluates competency-based trainer development programs
Design, develop and execute training programs
Conduct training needs assessments; analyzes organization/employee training needs to determine requirements for new program development
Work with other functions (e.g., safety and operations) to ensure that course materials reflect current specifications and to obtain information on new processes and equipment
Develop and conduct various certification programs for employees as required by regulations
In addition to the responsibilities performed at the Specialist level, the Specialist Sr. level will also be responsible for:
Collecting and analyzing data obtained in training programs.
Evaluating the effectiveness of new and existing training courses and programs and recommending, modifying and updating those training programs as necessary.
Acting as liaison with regulatory agencies.
Managing projects, while having the ability to affect change management, and provide leadership skills to partner with customers.
This position will be filled at one of two levels depending on the qualifications of the successful candidate.
Workforce Specialist $30.91 to $38.64
Workforce Specialist Sr. $37.39 to $46.74
So, what will it take to be successful in this position? Most people at the Specialist level typically offer a bachelor's degree in education, training (or a closely related field), and/or 3 to 5 years on the job experience while the Senior level typically offers a bachelor’s degree in education or training (or a closely related field), and/or 5 plus years’ experience. Previous training and/or operation and knowledge of cranes and rigging is a plus. Of most interest are skills and abilities in the following areas:
Knowledge of and experience applying the competencies necessary to perform in each of the following Areas of Expertise (AOE): Designing Learning, Improving Human Performance, Delivering Training, and Measuring and Evaluating learning effectiveness.
Knowledge of and experience applying adult learning theories, individual culture and learning styles, needs analysis, learning objectives, application exercises/interactivity, learning assessment and course evaluation.
