Project Manager II-Facilities Project Management

Colorado Springs Utilities seeks a Project Manager II to join our Facilities Project Management Team. In this role, you will manage small- to medium-scale facility infrastructure and space planning projects. Providing project management services to the entire organization's facilities needs to ensure successful delivery within scope, budget, and schedule.

Key responsibilities:

  • Manage small to large-scale, highly complex, construction projects, ensuring that they are completed within scope, schedule, budget, and to the required quality standards.

  • Provide construction and building standards expertise to the project team

  • Develop and manage the project schedules, coordinate scheduling of multiple disciplines, drive completion of all tasks on time and without conflicts, and communicate project progress and status of completion

  • Identify, assess, and resolve issues and risks throughout the project and make recommendations based on priority and need to ensure the success of project objectives

  • Coordinate with architects and engineers; perform detailed design development reviews, including project constructability, value engineering, safety by design, commissioning, and start-up plan. Attend meetings to support reviews

  • Create and coordinate project budgets, ensuring that costs are kept within budget and that financial reports (quantities, progress, invoices) are accurate

  • Monitor the safety and health performance of contractors and address deficiencies during the project as they arise. Champion safety, holding everyone accountable for high safety performance

  • Perform/monitor the as-built process with the contractor as part of the review of contractor applications for payment and ensure that all RFI’s and Change Orders are incorporated

  • Implement and oversee quality assurance measures, ensuring that all work is completed to the required standard and by the contracted construction scope

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with customers, project stakeholders, contractors, and vendors

  • Provide oversight of commissioning work and contractors' quality control during commissioning and start-up

Skills:

  • Experience in building construction project management

  • Knowledge of project management methodologies, frameworks, and best practices

  • Communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement

  • Planning and schedule management

  • Financial and risk management experience

  • Experience in contract development

Who You Are:

You are likely someone who comes with at least three years of progressively responsible project management with an emphasis on building construction. A Bachelor’s Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Architect, Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited college or demonstrated equivalent experience is beneficial. Additionally, possessing a Certified Construction Manager (CCM) or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, and familiarity with AutoCAD is highly beneficial. Knowledge of ADA, IBC, and other building standards would also add to your success in this role.

In addition to the technical aspects of this job, you excel at remaining composed under pressure, taking initiative, and driving projects forward, communicating and sharing information effectively and appropriately, possess sound critical thinking and decision-making ability, and strong interpersonal skills that will allow you to establish effective internal and external relationships with contractors, Utility staff, and vendors.
